Gentlemen,

Hong Kong -ShingMun Valley Waterworks.

We duly received your letter M/S.A. of the 24th

September and wish to make the following observations on the

draft enclosed therewith:-

Resident Engineer (Class I).

Agreement.

Clause 1. We would prefer that the words "or other duly

authorised officers" be deleted.

Schedule.

Clause 1. We think it would be better to make the term

of engagement as stated with the addition or qualification

"but not exceeding five years".

Clause 2. We would prefer the deletion of the words

The last sentence in

"or other duly authorised officers".

this clause hardly appears necessary

though we note the

saving words "in so far as the same are applicable"

- unless,

as in the case of the Kano Works, Mr. Hull is regarded in

practice as the Head of his department as Mr. Reynolds was in

Nigeria.

Clause 3 (3). We would rather see both Clauses 10 and

11 deleted as being unnecessary.

Clause 4. In our Schedule of the 16th September quarters
